I think I’ll go to New York tomorrow…

In what has to be the most spontaneous thing Marga and I have ever done, we just bought tickets to go to New York tomorrow. Our flight leaves in less than 11 hours. We’ll be in New York by noon.

What better way to celebrate my 28th birthday and our -1 wedding anniversary?

As a coincidence, it will be exactly 10 years since the only other time I’ve been to the Big Apple. I spent my 18th birthday there with a bunch of people I didn’t know from my college dorm on a school-organized trip. I went to the top of the World Trade Center last time. Probably won’t this time.

We’ll return on Sunday, with a camera full of pictures, no doubt.

I do all this for you, my dear readers…

We who are mired in our lives by jobs, pets, family etc. applaud you. I’ll give you the same advice I gave you 10 years ago – keep your wallet in your front pocket:~) Have a wonderful weekend.

Youth, financial independence, and lack of dependents should be taken advantage of.

Twenty years from now, I won’t remember what I did last week, but I will this week. :-)

Has Marga ever been to New York?

She’s seen the skyline from the Newark airport, but that’s it.

Thanks for making this trip for me. Can’t wait for the pictures and the narrative.

I can’t remember what I did twenty years and one week ago either.

I give that an impressive 9.8 out of 10 on the Spontaneity Scale.

With 10 being, leaving your family for a world cycle tour carrying only a toothbrush and no Vaseline (for the chaffing) with less than 15 minutes notice. And 1 being living your entire life within 10 miles of the place you were born while amassing a massive collection of toothbrushes and using gallons of Vaseline.
