We were planning on going to Pamplona for the San Fermin festival again this year, but Marga came down with a bad cold on Thursday evening and is still feeling bad today. With the kind of intense partying required by San Fermin, either you’re dancing around having a good time, or you’re sitting around complaining. So it requires full stamina and health.
We did get up at 8:00am this morning to watch the first encierro (running of the bulls) which is broadcast live every day this week. Despite there being five thousand runners packed into the narrow cobblestone street, there was only one guy that got thrown into the air, and he got up immediately afterwards. It’s really quite nerve-wracking to watch.
I took some pictures of our San Fermin scarves that will remain tied to our bookshelf for another year.
San Fermin. I like how there are little gold people cheering him on.
Pamplona. This is the one I chose to wear last year, I think.
For now we’ll have to re-enjoy our trip last year.
Gora San Fermin!

I thought I’d re-post a few here for you. This first one seems like a good candidate for some frame breaking. Corner Flag [...] |

| We’re actually gonna do it this year. I’ve just bought bus tickets to go to Pamplona this weekend for the San Fermin festival. For you Americans, that’s the “running of the bulls” that brings Spain to your evening news program once a year. We leave on Friday afternoon, get there Friday evening, and return Saturday [...] |
