Great comment, Alan. Thanks for that.

And he also had the same outlook as Dr. Randy… happy until the end.
That doesn't sound like such a bad way to go, if you ask me. It sucks to go young, but knowing it's coming and having it be relatively quick at the end would be nice.

I was reminded of The Little Prince recently too. I forget by what. That room drawing part was pretty touching, I agree. Seems reasonable to me.

I almost stopped the video after I heard what he was dying of. My father died of pancreatic cancer. Like Dr. Randy, he was very much alive until a month or so before he died. He went downhill Very fast at the point and it was tough when he got to the point where he didn't know who I was. And he also had the same outlook as Dr. Randy... happy until the end.

As a father of two, these kinda stories just break my heart. I'm more emotional today than usual. I learned last night that one of my cousins was killed in Iraq yesterday. I didn't know him, but for some reason it crushed me. I thought the world of his mother. I guess having kids now put the loss of a kid in a new perspective.

The first thing I thought of when Dr. Randy said let your kids paint their rooms and don't crush their creativity was a section of the The Little Prince where he draws a boa with an elephant inside. The picture is mistaken for a hat. A kids perspective on life is a cool thing and we can learn a lot from them.

I'm done rambling now. Thanks for presenting the video.

They featured him on the news recently and it was, despite the circumstances, really great to listen to him give a lecture about living.
