This post has been getting a lot of hits from a Spanish forum run by the car-geeks that came to this car show. I bet none of them got the spoiler alert joke.

Bienvenidos a los de cochesclasicos.esforos.com!

I'm with you Carl. Those Italians drove me crazy with their diving and phony injuries. Thank Dog their efforts weren't rewarded with a win. And thanks for this: "He also lost four teeth in the process. Incredibly, after discovering the injury to his scrotum, he calmly asked the physio to stitch up the tear and returned to the field before a blow to his head left him concussed"

Since the topic is antiques, I'll speak up. At least in the 50s, those vehicles did have a form of iTunes built in. I don't know why they called it "AM", because, as I remember it, you couldn't actually get music out of them before late afternoon. Here's the good part. The songs were free, 99 cents filled up your tank, and the whole vehicle only cost as much as a single fill-up does today.

Worth reading for the spoiler alert alone.

That football match was awesome. I have a big issue with all the diving and pretending to be hurt all the time in football. Watching a match with me often involves quite a lot of yelling at the television. Italy in my opinion are one of the biggest bunch of cheat in this respect and I was stoked to see then bawling their eyes out after Spain thumped them.

Now rugby there is a real sport. Players often carry on with broken bones and their testicles ripped open (after being stitched up of course).

Wii games were pretty tame back then - take, for example, Wii Velocipede, Wii Falconry and Wii Pass the Slipper. An exception to this rule was Wii Chichen Itza Bloodsport, which ends with the winner's avatar being beheaded and ascending to sit with the gods. I keep saying I'll buy a Wii when - and only when - that game is released for the current-gen console.

Erik, I didn't know you had such a thirst for historical knowledge. I am, of course, more than happy to share my considerable expertise in this area, as I have done in these comments. In fact, it would be a blast of the magnitude of the first atomic bomb used in wartime, dropped by Teddy Roosevelt on the evil robot Custer at Germantown!

Wow, I guess they just had to stay at home and play video games, then, huh? They did have Wii tennis, golf, and bowling, right?

No on-board computer? No GPS??!? How did people get anywhere in those days?

Well, technically, there wasn't anywhere interesting to go back then. Surround Sound hadn't been invented, so movies sucked. And without the internet there was no in-store pickup. Finally, the popular music of the time — I believe it was called "baroque" — involved heavily multi-tracked, or "symphonic", recording, meaning that it was almost impossible for Georg "Georgie P." Telemann, to take one example, to reproduce live. Thus, no good concerts.
