Lottery Year 2008As many of you may already be aware, in 2008, I did something really, really stupid every week: I played the lottery. Before starting, I did a lot of work calculating the odds and to figure out the best strategy for playing. I calculated that, starting with a balance of 260€, my most likely final balances would be between 22€ and 36€. Let’s see what I finally ended up with…

Happy Kings Day

Kings Day MouseToday is the big commercial gift giving day in Spain. The three Mage Kings paraded around town last night. It’s pretty boring this year, but I suspect it will be a lot more fun to see through a child’s eyes in the coming years. Marga came home yesterday and played the “craving” card to get a roscon de reyes a day early. Since she got the prize last year, she had to pay for it, but it hit me this year, so I’ll have to buy next year. I explained this tradition last year.

Champagne with Wedding RingMarga’s family alternates getting everyone together on Christmas or New Years Eve; this year the big family dinner was on New Years Eve. Remember these beauties? We ate one on New Years Eve. You may note a particularly turkey-heavy theme to this post. I was a little worried that I might have to witness the slaughter (and be forced to make a Sarah Palin interview parody video), but I didn’t.
