Today is Jack Handey‘s 60th birthday. In his honor, I’m posting this deep thought I had the other day.

If I ever have a son, I think that I’ll name him Inigo Montoya. You know, just in case I’m ever murdered.

This topic brought into my consciousness lately by this t-shirt.

    One of my former favorites:
If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let ‘em go, because, man, they’re gone.

    Happy Birthday man.

    Two of my favorites…

One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. “Oh, no,” I said. “Disneyland burned down.” He cried and cried, but I think that deep down, he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.

It takes a big man to cry, but it takes a bigger man to laugh at that man.

Talking about ‘favorite’ Deep Thoughts would be a futile exercise for me, because reading them is like eating peanuts, except that when I eat peanuts I don’t laugh until salty tears come, mostly. That said, I’ve always been partial to It’s sad that a family can be torn apart by something as simple as a pack of wild dogs.

I don’t know how I’ve missed this guy, but now he’s on my desktop and I get a chuckle every morning. I’ve felt a bit bereft since Ze Frank quit the business. Thanks for showing me the way Erik.
