Well, it’s not like we can stop now! Yesterday we had a party for Nora’s seven month birthday. Her aunt, Spanish grandmother, and great-grandfather were in attendance. Hamburgers were on the menu again, and we had a wonderful feast. I’m always too hungry to take a photo of the actual hamburgers, though.
Nora had a great time.

Happy kid with happy parents.

Bright-eyed birthday girl.

Daddy helped with the candle extinguishing, but Nora did all the wishing.

By the time she got into Mommy’s arms, the elastic straps of the party hat were starting to annoy.

Posing with great-grandpa.

And grandma.
It was at about this point where she pulled the elastic strap from her face and let it snap back, which made her break into tears. I tried this myself to see how much it hurt, and the answer is a lot!

Teary-eyed with Aunt Belén.

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to!

After lunch she had a good time on the couch playing with great-grandpa.

Well, Nora, it’s hard to believe, but we’re actually on the complete opposite side of the sun from where we were when you were born. It’s been a long 470 gigameter semicircular journey, kiddo. As clichéd as it is to say so, you’re changing every day and each day you are slightly more interesting and [...]

Today is a big day. First of all, it’s Saint John’s Day (San Juan), which is a holiday in many, many Spanish towns and cities, including León, Mondragón and Colindres. San Juan is a thinly veiled pagan solstice celebration including local witch-burning bonfires. So all the shops are closed and everyone (except me) is off [...]

Today is Nora’s five month birthday. Every birthday so far we’ve had cheeseburgers for lunch. We’ve stopped buying cake, though, ever since con of calories began to outweigh the pro of having cake. She slept through the burgers on her activity mat. It’s strange now to see tiny babies in the street and be the [...]
