It might be nice to have a president, for once, that can crawl up walls.

Where have I seen that expression before? Hmm…

Oh yeah, there it is.

So of course I had to morph them together. Watch the mouth and nose.

Some of the head shape difference is a result of the angle of the shot, but mine was definitely more egg-shaped with a bigger forehead, less hair, and generally not as pretty. Still, stuff like this is pretty creepily fascinating.

A few things to notice…

• The hair is all wrong, of course, but that’s an unavoidable problem with morphing two people with radically different hair styles.
• This face is better looking that either of us. This is also a common occurrence in morphing. When individual imperfections are averaged away the result is closer to what humans perceive as beautiful. And any psychologist will tell you there’s some unconscious narcissism involved in my assessment.
• For the same reason as above, the resulting face looks younger than either of us.

At this point there was really no turning back. How could I NOT morph Nora’s present face into this combined face of her parents??

So based on complete speculation, this is what Nora’s face (ignore the hair) might look like when she’s about 15 or so.

I told you it was creepy!

One thing I took away from this experience was that, if I had to vote by which candidates more easily provided their logos for downloading and printing and spreading, and the general website design and usability, I would vote for Obama. It was really difficult to get the Republican pentagram five-pointed star logo.

As you may recall, I’ve already morphed Barack Obama into Joe Biden, which turned into a pretty good looking gentleman. And I’ve also morphed John McCain into Sarah Palin, which turned into a not so good looking grandmotherly person.

But wait! There’s more! In a terrifying development, I discovered that I can control both the color blending and the motion of the morph separately, thus allowing me to place Barack Obama’s skin on John McCain’s face and vice versa. Behold:

The Obama-Biden merger was much easier because of similar postures and general head shape and hair style (no bangs). Plus, I think I’m getting a little better at it. Unlike the wide-jawed grandmother that resulted from morphing the Republican presidential ticket, the Democratic ticket results in a pretty good-looking guy. Perhaps even handsomer than either of the two candidates on their own.

Some things I’ve learned from this experience are that Obama has very large eyes and a wide mouth. All professional magazine photoshoppers (the ones responsible for destroying your self image) know that humans associate those two features with youth and attractiveness. Biden has some tiny little eyes, the kind that make him seem untrustworthy. Morphed faces are interesting because of how you can see both people, but never at the same time. It flips like a Necker Cube or the Vase/Profiles illusion.
